Victory through Death?
Imprisoned in an forlorn tower on a deserted headland, Lyllith, the last of the royal line of Érainn, prepares to use her only remaining weapon against the man who murdered her father and ravaged her land—her own death. Riv Orrsa, her kingdom’s conqueror, cannot hold the throne legitimately without her as his wife, so she waits to die as if waiting for an old friend.
But then a ghostly young boy appears in her barren cell to offer the one thing that changes it all revenge. Accepting that chance plunges Lyllith in the middle of a contest thousands of years in the making, for the young boy is not what he seems, her new freedom is illusory, and she is the unwitting heir to an ancient bloody legacy with the power to unmake both their worlds.

I am not given to writing many reviews, simply because I don't have what it takes to be a good reviewer. Nevertheless, this story in my opinion is hauntingly, beautifully written. Given the author's background, I wonder if the story is based on an Irish legend? At one point I almost couldn't finish it - call me a sucker, but it is hard on me to go through a sad ending - I prefer light reading with happy endings. It's got everything that makes a story a memorable read but reading it also makes you understand the love a father has for his children and how far he would go to save his children.Product details

The Erl King Children Jordan Leah Hunter Curt Johnson 9781492890188 Books Reviews
No, I did not read all of this book. Its physicality exceeded its worth. If you enjoy very explicit content, then you would extol its lasciviousness. This is not a piece of work you would read to your young, nor would, perhaps nor should, albeit your personal worldview encompasses, ney, surpasses that which my digestive track can sustain.
Before you buy this book (although it was without cost) download a sample to determine whether it is to your taste. My palette wasn't so much offended as it was tainted. As always, whatever you consume is who you become; most often are.
Choose wisely.
It was hard to get into at first, but once it got going I loved it. It did some pretty original (at least, to me) things with the fae and such.
A fresh look on "elves" and other woodland party people. Characters quickly grow on you and stay for the duration. And, what an ending!
The story was very interesting and the characters we well developed. The reasons for only 3-stars are two-fold. First, the sex scenes seemed like overly graphic add-ons that did not contribute in any way to the story. Second, and really most frustrating, was the incredibly poor copy editing. Don't get me wrong, the value for money here was excellent (I paid $0.99). However, the typos throughout the book made for annoying distractions from an otherwise really interesting tale.
I had an opportunity to read this book before it was published.
It reminded me of my favorite "high fantasy" books from George MacDonald, Lord Dunsany, Angela Carter, Hope Mirrlees. The "real" world, the faerie world, passages between the two, the differences between the two worlds, and the persons in both who were shaping events to their own purposes. Lots of depth in this book, from the height of an epic down to the details of a medieval battle.
I'm looking forward to re-reading it.
This book is very good. It's one of the best writen books I have read in sometime.
The attention to detail is wonderful.
The plot is complex and intricate but it all holds together and weaves a complete and believable tale. The plot didn't seem forced to me, it simply flowed. The characters are varied and detailed. They are good and bad and real. They feel like real people with real flaws. The actions they take in the story follow their personalities. This made the story all more believable and whole.
The writing was also excellent. I liked the word choice in particular. I felt the author's choice of words helped suck me into the setting of the book. I felt emersed in the world. I dislike reading a mid-evil etc. story and have a character say "okay". It doesn't fit the period of the story. That was never the case in this book.
The descriptions of the setting are also very detailed and accurate to what I know of the equivalent period in our history.
The editing and the proof reading of this work are very high. I noticed very few typos (3 minor ones) in the entire story. That's less in most book I read that come out of the large publishing houses. Additionally the typos where so minor they did not knock me out of the story. If I hadn't been looking for them I may not have noticed them at all.
Everything in this book is well thought out and we'll presented. I recomend it to anyone who enjoys high fantasy. What sets this book apart is the quality of the writing and the attention to detail every aspect of the story.
Good reading!
